On June 20, 2024, at 11:30 am, Allowah was featured on the Ray Hadley Morning Show on 2GB. During a heartfelt seven-minute interview, Ray Hadley and Liz McClean, our CEO, discussed the vital work we do and the ongoing support needed to continue providing exceptional care to children and young people with complex disabilities and medical needs.
Ray Hadley shared his personal connection to Allowah, reminiscing about his younger days walking past our facility in Dundas Valley and recognizing the importance of our work. His words underscored how deeply rooted Allowah is in the community and the critical role we play in supporting families.
Liz McClean highlighted that even with significant progress in the disability sector, like the NDIS, the level of care required by the cohort of children that Allowah supports remains unique. Allowah provides round-the-clock care that goes beyond standard services, combining clinical expertise and personal support to meet each child’s individual needs. This level of care sets us apart and is a something that Allowah prides itself in.
Liz also emphasized the dedication of our staff, many of whom have been with us for years, building lasting relationships with the children and their families. These staff members are not just employees; they are integral parts of the Allowah family, committed to delivering the highest quality of care.
A significant portion of the interview focused on our ambitious fundraising target of $1.2 million for the year, with a specific goal of raising $600,000 during our End of Financial Year appeal. Liz was able to announce that Piling Experts, a family-owned business, generously offered to match donations dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 until June 23rd. This means that every dollar donated would be doubled, making an even greater impact. It was fantastic to have our cause shared and endorsed on mainstream radio.
The interview was a timely reminder of the community’s power to make a difference. Liz expressed her deep gratitude for the support received, particularly in the last couple of years and called on listeners to continue their generosity. Every contribution, whether financial or through advocacy, helps Allowah remain a lifeline for children and their families.
Thank you for your patience as we update our website to reflect Allowah’s next chapter and the changes announced in June this year. If you have any questions, please contact our CEO Elizabeth McClean at emmclean@pcnsw.org.au.
